So you went by the pet shop and told your kids that you were going to just look but somehow or another you ended up bringing bunny home. After you got the rabbit home and you found out that keeping him or her in a cardboard box was not going to fly you are now on the internet doing a search for outdoor rabbit hutches.

Bunnies are really cute and cuddly but after a while even if you did keep them inside for a little bit they can get too big to be inside comfortably. Or you just want to stop dealing with the mess.  Let’s now go on to look at what to look for when bringing a rabbit home.

Make sure that the home you decide to get for your rabbit is going to be able to keep him nice and warm. It’s important that you get a hutch that is off the ground because if something comes after your rabbit such as a dog or a wolf or a fox while it might not be able to get in the lower enclosure to get the rabbit it still may be scared to death – really! When you keep the rabbit up out of the way it will not only feel warm, cozy and dry but it will also feel safe and when bunny feels safe bunny is happy.

However, if you do have room to put your outdoor rabbit hutches inside a fenced area that can keep the varmints away, that can be very nice for your pet bunny.  Safe access to the ground means they can eat fresh grass.  What is even neater is an outdoor rabbit hutch like a wooden rabbit hutch which you can move around inside your fenced area.  It would be like a portable run allowing your bunnies access to fresh grass and keeping them healthier.

If you are a handy man or handy woman you may consider making your own outdoor rabbit hutches.  But if you are like myself and can not build or don’t have time to build then you would rather get one that comes out of the box. If you really look over the time and expense it will take to build one on your own you just might find that it comes out to much less to just buy one straight out.
